Arctic Scandinavia

Experience winter like never before in the far north of Sweden and Norway. Starting in Stockholm, you’ll fly to Kiruna in Sweden and visit the famous Ice Hotel. Later, take a train to Abisko, a national park in Sweden that is renowned for its clear Northern Lights viewing. Hunt for the aurora, alternate between sitting in the sauna and rolling around the cold snow outside, and ride a dogsled with Huskies through the park. Hop over to Narvik and visit the Polar Park with wolves, lynx, and arctic foxes. End with an overnight sleeper train from Narvik back down to Stockholm.

Sweden | Norway

With some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world, Fiji is as much a paradise as it is adventurous. Spend your mornings at the Rainbow Reef in the Somosomo Strait of Taveuni Island, which gets its name from the incredible colors you see underwater. Drive around Viti Levu visiting papaya plantations, eating at the most authentic Indian food outside of India, and sampling traditional Fijian treats at the local markets. Learn how to make Kava, dive with sharks, and visit villages to get a taste of true Fijian life. End your trip relaxing with remote island resorts, having a massage on the warm beach.

Wake up to the sound of birds in the Swiss Alps and drink water from one of the world’s most pristine glacial sources. Hike through Gimmelwald, a small traffic free village in the mountains, taste locally-made cheese, and drink dark beer made with a recipe perfected by monks over 500 years ago. Then, drive through the unbelievably picturesque canyon of Lauterbrunnen, flanked by waterfalls and the alps. Continue through the towns of Spiez and Thun on to the Old City of Bern, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the best preserved Medieval cities.

On this trip, you start in Juneau, the capital of Alaska. You’ll walk on glaciers and explore the Alaskan fjords, keeping an eye out for bears, whales, and bald eagles. Take a 2 hour flight through the Juneau Ice Fields, observing this other-worldly landscape. Then visit Anchorage and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, where you’ll find all of Alaska’s native animal species. Visit Denali National Park where you can hike, explore, and take a tour to some of the more remote corners of the park. Opt for a flightseeing tour to see the highest peak in North America.

Aside from being one of the most romantic honeymoon destinations in the world, Tahiti offers the chance to experience true island living. Rent a scooter on the island of Mo’orea and drive out in the morning to pick up fresh papayas and mangos for breakfast. Do a food tour to try local food. Visit a vanilla bean plantation and buy the freshest vanilla you can find. Scuba dive in some of the most pristine lagoons in the world. When you’re ready to relax, take a short flight to Rangiroa and stay on a private island. Visit famous Tahitian black pearl farms, taste locally made rum, and sit on your overwater bungalow.

Steep yourself in Buddhist culture in Bhutan, and get a taste for living in the Himalayas. Starting in Paro, you’ll be driving East to Trongsa, through some of the most stunning landscapes this region of the world has to offer. Visit yak-herding nomads in the Gangtey Valley, hike to remote monasteries deep in the mountains, and relax at 5 star all-inclusive resorts. Try your hand at archery, the national sport, and sip on butter and rice tea, the national drink. Have momo dumplings for lunch, and if you’re brave enough, eat like a local and try their unbelievably spicy cuisine.

From Vilnius to Riga, then on to Tallinn, visit the 3 Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Learn about the Hanseatic League and Gothic Architecture. Climb the Soviet-era bobsleigh track in Sigulda, explore the crumbling castles of the Estonian countryside, and stroll through the best preserved Medieval towns left in Europe. Visit old KGB offices and learn about Soviet History. Get lost in the 14th-century alleyways of the Tallinn Old Town, all the while eating at modern, zero-waste, hyper-sustainable restaurants.

Belize offers dramatic contrasts: beaches and jungle, historic ruins and modern hotels. Visit Xunantunich and Caracol, Mayan ruins that you can walk through and explore. Trek through Mayan burial caves in the jungle and set eyes on the skeletons of ancient Mayan sacrifices. Afterwards, hop over to Ambergris Caye for relaxing beaches and the famous Hol Chan Marine Reserve, which offers unparalleled snorkeling and diving. For the advanced diver, take a trip to the Great Blue Hole, the world famous sinkhole of the Caribbean Sea.

Christianity and Islam on a 7 Country Balkan Road Trip

On this 7 country road trip, you’ll be taken through the walled cities of Dubrovnik and Kotor in Croatia. Next, visit some of the most beautiful mosques in Shkoder and Tirana in Albania. You’ll watch the sunset over Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia, and wander through the strange yet charming capital city of Skopje. Sip Turkish coffee and experience secular Islam in Kosovo, and drive through the gorgeous mountains of Montenegro, stopping in the countryside to stay at a riverside cabin.

Overwhelm your senses in Dhaka. This trip is not for the faint of heart - there is no escaping the noise, smells, and crowdedness in the capital of Bangladesh, one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Try local meat-heavy food and breads, sip tea with locals, and if you’re adventurous, wander around outdoor markets. After that, spend time watching blacksmiths making kitchen utensils in makeshift forges, visit a brick-making factory on the outskirts of the city, and go for a “river cruise” on the highly polluted, economically crucial Buriganga River.

Camping in Death Valley and Red Rock Canyon

Death Valley is the lowest point in North America, and as such, has some of the most unique geography you’ll find on the continent. Stargaze in a zero-light-pollution desert, climb sand dunes, and explore the geometric salt flats. Take a 4x4 and visit the rocks that move themselves. Wake up early and watch the sun peak over the mountains before driving through the largest National Park in the contiguous United States. On your way back to Vegas, spend the day hiking through the stunning Red Rock Canyon.

From Everest to Chitwan, Mountains and Safaris in Nepal

If setting eyes on Everest has been on your bucket list, but the months of preparation are too intimidating, I’ve got the solution for you. Take a helicopter ride from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp and walk at 18,000 feet above sea level, and have lunch at the highest elevation hotel in the world. After this unforgettable day, explore Kathmandu and visit ancient temples and trade routes. Continue on to Chitwan National Park, where you’ll be on Safari, driving jeeps and looking for an elusive tiger. After that, visit Pokhara, where you can skydive, kayak, and paraglide to your hearts content.

Go back in time and retrace the steps and history of the Vikings, visiting the most important and well-preserved Viking sites in the world. Learn about Gorm the Old, the first Viking King of Denmark, by visiting the oldest known mention of the word “Denmark”. Follow his son Harold Bluetooth through his conquest over the Nordics. Visit Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum, with the world’s best preserved Viking Ships. Visit Stockholm’s Open Air Museum to get a sense of how the Vikings lived. All the while, have coffee from some of Europe’s best cafes, and enjoy pastries from world-renowned bakeries.

With a rich colonial history, Paraguay’s capital Asuncion is in the middle of the jungle. Visit the Paraná River, old Spanish colonial buildings, and eat delicious indigenous food. Take a short flight o Iguazu Falls, one of the Natural Wonders of the World, and spend a couple days on both the Argentine and Brazil sides of the falls, hiking around the magnificent nature and taking a boat to the base of the falls. Then fly down to Uruguay, where you’ll wander the cobblestone streets of the 16th century Portuguese settlement of Colonia, live the Gaucho lifestyle, and sunbathe in some of South America’s best weather.

Island Hopping and Hiking through the Faroe Islands

This is what North Atlantic life is all about. Rugged islands, amazing seafood and temperate weather, the Faroe Islands offer some of the world’s most picturesque sights. From the famous “lake on the cliffs above the ocean” Trælanípan to the Kallur Lighthouse shown above, this small island nation in the Kingdom of Denmark is a hiker’s paradise. Rent a car and drive through underwater tunnels connecting the islands, stay in grass-roof houses at the mouth of a fjord, and dine on the highest quality salmon in the world. Visit before it turns into the next Iceland.

Exploring Incan Ruins and the Bolivian Altiplano Desert

Bolivia is a country of natural wonders, most notable of which is the Uyuni Salt Flats. Stay at the Salt Hotel on the flats, where everything, including your bed, is made of salt. Watch the mirror-effect of the flats as the sun rises, and experience what some call “the closest you’ll ever be to heaven”. After that, swim in Lake Titicaca and overnight on the Isla del Sol, which, according to Incan legend, wasthe birthplace of the Sun. After that, spend time in La Paz and fly over the high-altitude capital in gondolas, and eat at some of South America’s best indigenous restaurants.

The Amazon, Haciendas, and Volcanoes in Ecuador

Ecuador is the most biologically diverse country in the world, and its easy to see why. With 4 different eco-zones, you’ll visit volcanoes, flatlands, beaches, and the Amazon Jungle. Starting in the Andean highlands of Otovalo, visit the world-famous indigenous handicraft market. Continue on to the Amazon jungle and spend a few nights learning about the Quechua people. After some thermal baths and waterfall rappelling, go into Cotopaxi National Park and glance at an active Ring of Fire volcano. End by spending time in the amazing high- altitude capital city Quito.

Road Trip Vancouver, Banff, and the Canadian Rockies

Take a road trip from Vancouver to Banff, and on to Calgary, exploring Canada’s greatest national parks. On this trip, you’ll visit Jasper, Yoho, Kootenay, and of course, Banff National Park, exploring the Canadian Rockies top to bottom. Walk on glaciers, hike to waterfalls, kayak on bright blue lakes, and rest your eyes and drive through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. You start in Vancouver, eating fresh seafood and exploring the famous Vancouver Island botanical gardens. End the trip in Calgary, walking along the Bow river. Oh, and you get to eat great food along the way.

Visit Los Cabos like a local and skip the cruise. San Jose del Cabo, the lesser-known “cabo” offers some of the best Mexican food you’ll find on the peninsula. Feast on Baja Fish Tacos and Tacos el Pastor at Las Guacamayas. Grab a car and follow the southern coast to Cerritos Beach, where you’ll stop for a night to enjoy a Mojito on the beach and fresh local coffee in the morning. Passing through Todos Santos for some famous Margaritas at Tequila's Sunrise Bar & Grill, and end in La Paz at Playa Balandra, a shallow lagoon you can stand in all day long.

There’s a reason Scandinavia is my favorite region in the world - existence there feels easy. On this trip, you’ll hit all the highlights of Norway, Denmark, and Sweden’s capital cities of Oslo, Copenhagen, and Stockholm. Here you’ll find some of the best museums in the world, you’ll dine at some of the best restaurants, and enjoy Fika and Hygge culture, where you sip your award winning coffee and pastries in cozy cafes. These countries are rich with history and culture, and the quick 1 hour flights and excellent transit will give you that feeling of city exploration without any of the stress.

A Day in El Salvador

If you’re flying anywhere in South America, there’s a good chance you’ll have a layover at Avianca’s hub in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador. As little as 8 hours is enough for you to leave the airport and explore a bit with a guide. The day will be packed; you’ll check out Mayan ruins, a volcanic park, take a stroll through a rainforest, and visit a lake in the crater of an extinct volcano. Drive through the bustling streets of San Salvador and eat your weight in pupusas, the thick, cheese-stuffed griddle cakes the country is well known for. If you have enough time, you can even visit the beach!

The Swedish-speaking Finnish Archipelago: Aland

Nestled between Sweden and Finland in the Baltic Sea, Åland is a calm, nature-filled archipelago, where the inhabitants are Swedish in culture, but Finnish in nationality.To get here, you can take an overnight cruise from either Stockholm and Helsinki, an experience in itself. Speaking Swedish, this Finnish territory is popular among Finns as a summer retreat. You’ll wake up to the sound of birds and waves lapping the shore. Stroll through Mariehamn, the country’s capital city, and fill yourself on fresh ice cream. In the summer, enjoy the midnight sun.

Rainforests, volcanic lakes, Caribbean music and food, and more await your visit to Costa Rica. This small country is mostly rainforest and beaches, and as such, has a thriving ecotourism industry. Ride 4x4s through the jungle, kayak through rivers, paddle-board on lakes, scuba dive, lounge on the beach - the list is endless, and the options, limitless. If the season is right, you’ll visit Tortuguero to watch the sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach, and drive down to Arenal and spend a few days basking in the glory of one of the region’s largest volcanoes.

Ecotourism in Costa Rica

Start by visiting the nearby city of Belem to try the original, world-famous egg custard tarts, called Pasteis de Belem. Continue on to the beach city of Cascais for some biking along the boardwalk, beach lounging, and a lunch of local grouper. End the day at Cabo de Roca, the western-most point on the European continent. Another day, visit Sintra, with its inverted tower, brightly colored palace, and WW2-era underground tunnels entered through a secret bookcase in a castle.With your remaining days, explore Lisbon itself, a charming, relaxed capital city.

An Easy 5 Days in Lisbon

A common layover spot on your way to the rest of Asia, Hong Kong has a lot to offer in a day. Visit the bright and unique housing developments, some of the most dense accommodations ever created. Feast on Dim Sum for lunch, served to you by carts that rove the restaurant. Stop by a cafe for some Hong Kong milk tea before taking the tram to Victoria Peak for one of the most famous cityscapes in the world. Hop over to Kowloon to watch the nighttime light show of the main island, and visit the bustling night market for some Hong Kong style Hainanese chicken.
